Alan Moore is the founder of the Engagement Communication Consultancy SMLXL. He is the Co-author of Communities Dominate Brands: Business and Marketing Challenges for the 21st Century. (Futuretext 2005), and Social Media Marketing (Futuretext 2009). He is the author of The Glittering Allure of the Mobile Society, commissioned by Microsoft in 2008 – a paper that explored the possibilities of the mobile society.
He is currently working on his next project: No Straight Lines: An advanced living course for the networked society. A project that explores the implications of the evolution from a linear industrial mass media/consumer society, to the networked society. This research uncovers the complex interwoven relationship between: people, identity, communications technology, commerce and society. No Straight Lines is currently being trialed as a course in several business schools.
His unique experience enables him to provide insight and inspiration on this evolving world of media, culture, communication and commerce. Alan enables companies to develop strategies for how business can prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities presented by the networked society.
He is an executive director of Mass Niche Media, a board director of the Social Marketing Intelligence Company Xtract He sits on the advisory boards of the mobile IPR and patent company CVON and mobile marketing company, Qustodian. He sits on the board of inspiration at the Dutch Think Tank Freedom Lab. He teaches mobile commerce and communications at the Oxford University for Continuing Education. Alan is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
