At this time of economic dislocation, we have the opportunity to re-think the role and purpose of business in supporting society. Corporate Social Responsibility is nothing new but a broad change may be underway in the nature of the economy and capitalism itself. In order to emerge stronger and more sustainable, businesses of all sizes need a strategy that meets the changing needs of society. Our speaker will describe this shift towards an age of "Conscious Capitalism", drawing on the strategies of well-known companies that understand these new realities to inform and inspire practical moves for businesses in all sectors to support society whilst underpinning growth to help them survive and thrive.

Dr. Rajendra S. Sisodia is Professor of Marketing at Bentley University, Massachusetts and was previously Trustee Professor of Marketing and the Founding Director of the Center for Marketing Technology. An electrical engineer from BITS, Pilani (India), Dr. Sisodia has an MBA in Marketing from the Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Bombay, and a Ph. D. in Marketing & Business Policy from Columbia University, where he was the Booz Allen Hamilton Fellow.

Rajendra has published nearly 100 articles in journals such as Harvard Business Review, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Strategy, Journal of Business Research, and many others. He also writes frequently for the Wall Street Journal. His research, teaching, and consulting expertise spans the areas of strategic marketing, marketing productivity, marketing ethics, and stakeholder-based marketing. His clients have included IBM, Volvo, Nokia and AT&T, to name a few. His book "Firms of Endearment: How World Class Companies Profit from Passion and Purpose" (Wharton School Publishing, 2007) was named by Amazon.com and others as one of the ten best business books of 2007, and has been translated into seven languages.
