The MIT Enterprise Forum of the UK is delighted to welcome Michael Jackson of Mangrove Capital Partners and, previously, Skype as our next speaker in the Distinguished Entrepreneur event series.

In his role as Director of Operations and Paid Services at Skype, Michael Jackson was integral to the growth of the business from its launch through to the high profile trade sale to eBay in 2005 for £2.6 billion. The statistics are enviable – in just three years Michael was responsible for steering Skype's paid services revenue from zero to £400 million. And this growth was no one-off success. Michael's career has been embedded in the telecoms sector: prior to joining Skype he was responsible for the launch and development of 9 mobile businesses across Europe as part of Tele2.

Now a Partner at Mangrove Capital Partners in Luxembourg, a leading early stage VC with investments including Skype, Seatwave, Properazzi and Nimbuzz, Michael's focus is on applying his broad experience to the next generation of portfolio companies with global potential.

During the course of the event Michael will be sharing his insight into why some businesses succeed, and why some fail, drawing on both his experience at Skype and of course on the many companies that have since crossed his path looking for capital.
